The successful candidate will possess the following skills:

  • A GIS Technical Diploma and experience with ArcGIS,
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, SQL, AML, Visual Basic,
  • Strong cartography skills,
  • ArcGIS for Server administration or other web mapping experience,
  • Experience creating, maintaining and administrating databases,
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills,
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills (verbal and written), and
  • Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines.

Other Desirable Skills:

  • Experience interfacing with clients and authorities,
  • Progressive work experience in the GIS industry is considered a strong asset,
  • Experience in natural resources or forestry is a benefit,
  • GPS and the development of data capture methods and techniques using mobile devices,
  • Remote sensing,
  • Raster Processing
  • Project management skills, and
  • Secondary language skills (Spanish and / or Portuguese)

Civil Engineer

Ecora is seeking a Civil Engineer to join their expanding Civil Engineering Group based in either our Kelowna or Penticton office. The successful candidate’s duties will include: design of residential subdivisions, design and contract administration for municipal infrastructure improvement projects primarily with a focus on water infrastructure, preparation of engineering studies and reports, manage projects, liaise with clients and inter-company personnel, and mentor junior staff. A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with at least 5 years related work experience is required. Must be registered, or be eligible to register as a Professional Engineer in BC. Travel throughout British Columbia may be required in this position.

  • Experience with taking projects from proposal stage through conceptual design, detailed design, and construction
  • Experience with land use planning, rezoning applications and OCP amendments
  • Familiarity with environmental permitting, legislation and regulations including the Riparian Area Regulation and the Water Sustainability Act
  • Strong technical writing skills for design reports and proposals
  • Project management experience to ensure schedules, budgets, and quality control standards are met
  • Business development skills

Looking to live and work in the sunny Okanagan Valley while doing what you love at an emerging and dynamic consulting firm? Ecora is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join their expanding Geotechnical Group in the Southern BC Interior based in our Penticton office.

Ecora’s Geotechnical Engineering Group has extensive experience in providing geotechnical services in support of infrastructure projects, commercial structures, dam engineering and residential subdivision construction and is providing consulting services to provincial government including the BC Ministry of Infrastructure and Transportation and BC Ministry of Forests, Lands & Natural Resource Operations, municipalities, first nation communities, architects, developers, and contracting firms throughout the British Columbia interior. Ecora’s Geotechnical Engineering Group is supported by a CCIL certified materials testing laboratory.

The successful candidate’s duties will include conducting site investigations for residential, commercial and infrastructure developments. Participating in undertaking dam safety reviews, slope stability, rock fall and geohazard assessments, shallow and deep foundation design, pavement assessments, preparing technical letters and reports and undertaking field reviews during construction. A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in civil or geological engineering with at least 8 years related work experience is required, with preference given to candidates with previous experience in mountainous terrain. Must be registered, or be eligible to register as a Professional Engineer in BC. Travel throughout British Columbia may be required in this position.
