MARINE ENGINEERING: GEOTECHNICAL SUPPORT

Ecora’s geotechnical team is well versed in ports and harbours projects. Our Geotechnical Engineers and Engineering Geologists have provided geotechnical support for projects in British Columbia, Yukon and abroad. We appreciate the challenging technical demands of these projects as well as the demanding requirements of Owners to deliver projects often within tight budgets and tight schedules. We understand the geotechnical complexities of the British Columbian coast and the severe weather and swell that can mean challenging conditions for exploration and construction. We generally provide support for Prime Consultants and collaboratively work with marine structural engineers iteratively to deliver cost effective solutions. Our geotechnical team have also worked for design-build piling contractors internationally and have practical knowledge and experience in pile installation.

Our team have conducted the following exploration services working together with reputable drilling subcontractors:

• Barge and land drilling
• Sonic drilling
• Mud rotary drilling
• CPTs and SCPTs
• Test pile probing

• Revetment slope design
• Rock anchors
• Dolphin design
• Fender support design
• Rehabilitation of existing structures
• Trestle pile design
• Rip rap protection design
• Axial pile design (mooring/breasting dolphins)
• Mono pile analysis
• Lateral pile analysis (LPILE, GROUP, WALLAP)
• Lateral spread analysis
• Seismic stability analyses
• P-Y, t-z curve development
• Liquefaction (Simplified and 2D Equivalent Linear and Non-Linear)
• Driveability analysis (WEAP)
• Set criteria (empirical methods and wave equation-based methods)
• CAPWAP analysis
• Finite Element (e.g. PLAXIS)
• Finite Difference Deformation Analysis (e.g. FLAC)

• Drilled shaft inspections
