PIPELINES, OIL & GAS: GEOTECHNICAL SUPPORT

Ecora ‘s geotechnical team focus on providing geotechnical engineering support for projects in the midstream market. We understand the importance of delivering a high-quality service, on-time and under-budget. Safety is inherent in all that we do and is a cornerstone of the geotechnical consulting work we perform for oil & gas clients. We can provide geotechnical engineering support for pipelines, compressor stations, pump stations, underground/above-ground storage facilities as well as associated support infrastructure such as roads, railway, bridges, etc.

Geotechnical and Geophysical Investigation

Ecora’s geotechnical team are well versed in undertaking geotechnical and geophysical investigations in remote conditions. We routinely undertake mud rotary boreholes, sonic drilling, ODEX, SCPTs, CPTs, auger drilling and Becker Hammer testing (iBPT and BPT) and are used to executing challenging investigations in mountainous terrain. Through our preferred subconsultants, we can also provide geophysical surveys including MASW, SASW, downhole seismic, cross hole seismic and GPR.

Natural Hazards Assessments and Route Alignment Support

Ecora routinely undertakes helicopter reconnaissance, reviews air photos, procures and interprets LiDAR data, undertakes drone surveys and geological/hazard mapping. We work closely with our inhouse GIS team in managing large quantities of data. We identify at an early stage the potential natural hazards that can impact a pipeline, compressor station, pump station and other key O&G infrastructure.

FEED Support

Ecora can support the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and assist our clients in developing cost estimates and identifying major risks on their projects. Our input at this stage usually focuses on the geotechnical aspects of the projects due to the substantial project risks associated with ground conditions. Ecora uses the geotechnical data obtained from the site investigation phase to conduct geotechnical and seismic analyses. From these, we assess site preparation and foundation requirements and can design ground improvement measures if required.

Detailed Design

During detailed design stage, we can provide geotechnical engineering support to support the EPCM contractor, prime consultant or owner in preparing the detailed design including pile design, ground improvement assessments, seismic assessments, slope stability and foundation design.

Construction Support

Ecora provides on-site density as well as laboratory testing (soils, concrete, asphalt). We also provide trench stability assessments, slope inspections and pile driving support.
