Early into the construction phase of the project, Ledcor discovered that the original design could not be implemented in close proximity to the existing structure, and alternative solution for shoring would be required to keep the overall design intact. Ecora was requested to develop a hybrid shoring design using two different shoring systems that would support the existing road & infrastructure beside the planned expansion. The hybrid shoring design would require structural engineering design, due to construction restrictions, in addition to geotechnical input.
Ecora’s Geotech and Structural engineers were able to provide a cross-discipline solution to an unexpected challenge. We had our engineers on site the day after receiving the call, and within a week, we provided Ledcor team with an effective solution to their design problem that allowed them to proceed with construction without any further delay. Ledcor was appreciative of the fact that the same people they spoke with via phone were the same people who walked on site to find a solution to the problems.
Due to our fast response time and our ability to involve multiple engineering disciplines quickly, Ecora was able to provide Ledcor and Interior Health with a complete solution that kept their project on budget and the Hospital Expansion on schedule.
