PROJECT

Cassiar Residence – UBC Okanagan

Client: UBC Properties Trust
Location: Kelowna, BC
Completion date: August 2010

Outland Design was retained by UBC Properties Trust to undertake conceptual landscape planning, design development and contract administration services for a student residence at the Okanagan campus of the University of British Columbia. The Okanagan campus of UBC opened in 2005 and has since expanded to accommodate over 7500 students. As a result, the Okanagan campus has seen extensive development of its accommodation facilities. The Cassiar Residence building is situated at the highest point on campus and affords majestic views to the east and Black Knight Mountain and south west to Okanagan Lake. The residence landscape amenities included a feature access bridge to the main entrance of the building, a dry creek bed flowing underneath, seating plazas, retaining walls, parking areas and tree, turf and shrub plantings. Landscape construction improvements for the residence were undertaken by Westwind Nurseries and Landscaping Limited.
