AIRPORTS: GEOTECHNICAL SUPPORT

Airports are often constructed on alluvial deposits which are topographically optimal however these alluvial deposits are also unfortunately commonly soft and loose in consistency and thus  prone to consolidation settlement and liquefaction. Ecora’s geotechnical team are well versed on dealing with these soils and understand the geotechnical risks, issues and solutions that can be applied. Ecora’s geotechnical team provide support for airports across British Columbia and have worked at Pitt Meadows Airport (YPK), Kamloops Airport (YKA) and Penticton Airport (YPF) to name a few. We provide the following on airports projects:

• Geotechnical investigation
• Settlement analysis
• Liquefaction and lateral spread assessments
• Foundation design for hangars and control towers
• Runway pavement design
• Parking lot pavement design
• Vibration assessments
• Rock pit stormwater disposal design
• GIS support
• Construction site review
